Dr. Dionne Coish
Podiatrist - Anderson Ave.
Originally from Victoria; just an hour outside of St. John’s is where I was raised and continue to spend time with my family. Growing up I always had a keen interest in health care and loved the thought of potentially helping others in some way. After spending countless hours volunteering as a candy striper at the Carbonear General Hospital I was quite certain of this choice. However, I was still unsure as to which specific career path I would follow, and would often job shadow spending time between the Occupational and Physiotherapy Departments.
During this time my grandmother died at an early age as a result of complications related to poor management of her type II diabetes. I remember being very interested as to how a disease such as diabetes could have such an impact on the entire body and how it functioned. It wasn’t until I was introduced to Podiatry that I had my ‘light bulb’ moment. I then realized the significance of diabetes and the direct impact the disease had on the foot. It was a career I would pursue.
After graduating from Podiatry in 2004, I moved out west and practiced in Northern Alberta for 1 year before returning to St. John’s. The following year I started work at The Podiatry Associates Inc. Initially I spent time working at our St. John’s clinic as well as our satellite clinics in Bay Robert’s and Carbonear. I now practice full time at our St. John’s location.
I truly love my job and the great group of people I get to work with each day. They all work extremely hard to ensure each patient has the best experience possible. I take great pride in my work and am extremely grateful to those whom I have seen and continue to see on a regular basis. I dedicate my time to biomechanics of the lower extremity, footcare and of course treatment and prevention of the diabetic foot!
